I recently learned a valuable lesson.
At the risk of sounding like a self-help tape, or Dr. Phil for that matter, I just want to say that to get what you really want in life, you've just gotta grit your teeth and go for it! It pays to get to know people, even on a seemingly superficial level. As shallow as this may sound, it really does help get to places.

SO, from now on, I plan to be more of a go-getter type of person, rather than someone who just waits for things to fall onto my lap. 'Cause let's face it, things aren't gonna turn out the way you want if you wait and someone else is gonna get what you want!

okay, I'll stop now before I sound more and more like a Hallmark 'Happy Graduation' card.

seriously, why is it that i only choose to start blogging again when I should be doing an assignment? always the same story!
anyhooos, I'll just give y'all a run down of my very exciting life (well... not, really.... but i'll say anything that makes me feel better):

Saturday, August 8th -  I went and saw an Indonesian movie made a bunch of students (studying film, i'm guessing) from Melbourne and Sydney with Karina and Nyssa (Yasmin's cuz for y'all who don't know). I must say i barely know what was happening most of the time i was watching the movie, and the lack of establishing shots (read: shots that show you where the whole thing was set, like those big shots of the street, or an overhead view of the city) made me think that the whole thing was shot in someone's backyard. OK, maybe it was.... but all in all, good effort! Love how Indos are getting some exposure around here, especially that Indo streetwear designer Josua Andreas who graduated from RMIT (you hear that, cels?!).

Saturday, August 15th - I went to a gig at this rather dodgy bar. The drummer, Will, is in a couple of my units this year and I got to meet his band mates for the first time (second time, technically... but I was in no state to remember my first encounter with them. Ahem.) The band is called Wilfred Jackal, and they are all really very nice. After the gig, we scaddadled off to this very trashy but admittedly interesting club called C-Grade (i guess the name doesn't lie), where the staff were wearing pyjamas.
Check Wilfred Jackal out! (promosi promosi): http://www.myspace.com/wilfredjackal
That there is: Cayle (singer), guitarist guys Jake and Andy (still don't know which is which), Jamie (keyboard guy) and Will (drummer)

Wednesday, August 19th - Went to the pictures (who says that?) with my secret lover Karina and watched Harry Potter and the Oh My God I Can't Believe I Saw This Instead of District 9. Nuff said. Though I DO looove Lona Lovegood and her general cooky-ness and how in general the costumes have become strangely..... haute couture-ish. Like, seriously!

Love.This.Girl.

Prof. McGonagall channeling Balmain.

Thursday, August 20th - Plan to go to a seminar about permanent residency in Austraaaliah (oohh fun way to spend my free day!) and then over to Karina's for massive bake-out session.

Friday, August 21th 21st (LOL!)
- Partaay at Yasmin's! Weeee Yasmin's 21st shall be celebrated at her humble abode (I seriously hope Nyssa's cleaned all her shit up! There was coke with mold floating on it last time I came over!), possibly with some drinky drinks?

Saturday, August 22th 22nd (again!) - Planning a relatively tame day of shopping and general browsing in the city with Karina to check out this MASSIVE sale will sale and second-hand items from big name edgy designers the like of Junya Watanabe and Comme des Garcons! To be followed with a night in with the dorm peeps for a pajama party with possible drinky drinks (prolly not, for lack of moneys).

Sunday, August 23rd - A night out with the Indo chicas for a gig at my favorite bar, called The Toff in Town. Whoop! We're gonna see this up and coming Melbourne singer called Georgia Fields!

After all this, I shall be sleeping on the streets and begging for food or eating at soup kitchens. Aaaahh... the sweet taste of freedom and student life....

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Holy shiatzu! I just got my Semester 1 results today and I am soooo fucking disappointed at my self. I guess I shouldn't have expected much since I don't feel like I did an enormous amount of studying last semester. But still, I expected more out of my grades. I mean, if you look at my grades individually I guess you could say it was alright, since I passed everything and got 3 Distinctions (Film Studies, Sociology, Media) and a Credit (Journo). But what really disappointed me was my GPA, which was a measly 2.75 =(
I believe that is a near Distinction, which in high school terms is something like a C+/B- ?

I don't really want to tell my parents my grades, not sure how they'll feel about it.
